An Taigh Fiodh, Baymore, Grimsay, North Uist, HS6 5HX.
Approximately three miles off the main north-south road through the Uists, on
the island of Grimsay and overlooking a beautiful bay, An Taigh Fiodh (the
Wooden House) is a luxuriously appointed self catering apartment over 2 floors.
The accommodation comprises an open plan kitchen/dining/living room with all
modern appliances and including Freeview TV and radio, a gallery bedroom with
height adjustable bed which can be offered as either a double or a twin, and a
separate shower room. You'll find plenty to see and do here. There are miles of
unspoilt beaches to explore, birds and wildlife in abundance, fishing, golf and
horseriding in the area, plus museums and craft centres to visit. The area is a
paradise for artists and photographers. Open all year round. Rates from
£220-£350 per week including provision of all bedlinen and towels.

The Gatliff Hebridean Hostels Trust operates hostels at Berneray
(left) and Howmore (right). The GHHT helps local people run traditional
crofts as simple hostels, allowing visitors to share in the life and culture of
the local community. The Trust supports four hostels, each in an idyllic
position: Berneray on North Uist, Garenin on Lewis, Howmore on South Uist and
Rhenigidale on North Harris. Each is looked after by a warden and has piped
water and WCs. Beds, duvets, cooking equipment, stoves and cutlery are
provided. Personal sheet sleeping bags are necessary and may be rented, if
required, at £2 per visit. Camping is possible at some hostels.
These 'distinctive hostels of destination' are open all year. Bednight fees:
£10 for Adults, £6 for under 18s. Reservations are not possible,
but beds are usually available. Camping with use of hostels' cooking and
communal facilities £6 per person.

Mairi, 3 Ardnastruban, Grimsay, North Uist, HS6 5HT. STB 4 Star Self
Catering. In a stunning location, with fabulous views of both North Uist and
Benbecula and just a short walk from the beach, Taigh Mairi provides
comfortable accommodation for up to 7 guests. This well appointed property
comprises a well equipped kitchen with all modern appliances, a separate
utility room, a living room with TV, DVD and CD players, four bedrooms -
including two doubles and one twin all en-suite, plus a single - and a family
bathroom. A travel cot, baby monitors, bottle warmer, high chair and a
selection of toys are provided to make families feel at home. North Uist is a
paradise for wildlife and beach lovers and is renowned for the quality of the
seafood caught off its shores, particularly its lobsters. This is somewhere to
really get away from it all. Open all year. Rates from £345 per week.

Tigh
Alasdair, Sidinish, Locheport, Isle of North Uist. In a peaceful
location with views across Locheport and Loch an Ghoil to Eavaal and Bureavaal,
Tigh Alasdair is a pretty self catering cottage set on a family croft. The
accommodation is all on one level and comprises a fully fitted kitchen with all
modern conveniences, a comfortable living/dining room with open fire, a family
bathroom with bath and shower over plus two bedrooms, one double and the other
a twin/double. A travel cot, bedding and high chair can be provided on request.
Outside the garden is fully fenced and there is a shed for storage of bicycles
and fishing equipment. A table with bench seating and a barbecue are provided.
Tigh Alasdair has ample parking. Open all year. Rates from
£160-£380 per week including all bed linen, towels, basic cleaning
materials, peat, kindlers, firelighters and paper for the fire and a £5
allowance for electricity. A starter pack of provisions can be arranged on
